Italian Wood Buildings: data and trends
This report, in Italian, with English and German translation of the main 10 charts and conclusions, analyses the booming timber homes in Italy, it gives unique data fruit of a long research.
The report, 85 pages finished in September 2011, costs 300,00 euro, plus VAT and mailing cost.

The results of the study are optimistic, albeit with the caution forced upon us by the recent
deterioration of the economy (August 2011).

Wooden homes, as indeed non-residential constructions, are starting to achieve rather interesting
market shares and it is predicted that the number of constructions and their percentage weight are
rapidly set to increase further.

1 - As a rule, wooden homes are looked upon well by clients. However, a great many new
manufacturers are encroaching on the market, often with very little experience in the sector. Rigorous
compliance with standards must be imposed, as it only takes a few negative experiences to strike the
whole sector down.

2 - Manufacturers of houses built from other materials are suffering the competition raised by wooden
homes.

3 - Also in view of the above, associations and individual manufacturers need to seriously analyse
preventive measures to be taken to protect the wooden homes market, taking nothing for granted.

• Is it true that wooden homes do not burn? Should further tests be run?
• Do they really perform better in an earthquake? Should new measurements be taken?
• How long does a wooden home actually last as compared to one built from concrete?
• What are the advantages (if any) in terms of insulation?
• What are the disadvantages (if any) in terms of maintenance? Can anything be done to
reduce this handicap?

There is still a massive range of sectors in which wooden homes have room to expand.

aktuell angespannten wirtschaftlichen Lage (August 2011).
