The Chinese Wood Flooring industry
China is building more than 19 million houses a year, against less than 2 million in the USA and slightly more than 2 million in Europe. This creates a tremendous demand of all products which can be used in the building sector.

The wood sector in the world has been heavily influenced by China. This country has rapidly become one of the main wood importers in the world. China is building preferential links with the strategic suppliers of the wood products so necessary to its economy.
The main driver to the Chinese expansion of the wood industries is the growth of the internal market, with a population of 1,3 billion people, growing of 40 million every year and with a growing purchasing capacity.
Chinese industries are looking into export markets for selling excess capacity and for getting remunerative prices.
China has thus become a major exporter of wood products. These items have flooded the Western World, often at incredible prices, causing strong reactions in industries, Associations and Governments. There have been anti-dumping actions which have brought to impose import duties on certain Chinese products.

The report analyses the wood flooring sector, one of the wood sectors which have been more heavily influenced by Chinese exports.
China has produced in the year 2007 more than 360 million square meters of wood flooring, including laminated flooring, much more than North America and more or less the same quantity produced in Europe. It has exported about 150 million square meters flooring, little les than all the USA production. It will produce in year 2010 500 million square meters flooring, exporting 200 million. These figures are so large, the growth is so quick, that it is clear that the world is heavily influences by the Chinese production and export.

Gardino Consulting Company has invested in the last four years considerable time and efforts in Asia.
It has therefore prepared this report, which is fruit of several trips to China and of many interviews made to the main Chinese wood flooring industries. The report will be a very useful tool for all companies wishing to make business with China, both sellers of items purchased by Chinese plywood industries, such as logs, machinery, chemicals, veneer etc., or companies interested in buying wood flooring in China.

It is also an important tool for Western wood flooring producers and traders, in order to get a clear and updated picture of the competition of Chinese companies, and for analyzing if any of these companies might be their client or their supplier.

The report is published in July 2008.
The cost is Euro 2200 in pdf form.
